Crimson Clinical Discards
Prospective samples are clinical discards collected from the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital Clinical Laboratories based on study-specific criteria (e.g., a cohort issued from the Research Patient Data Repository (RPDR) or lab results). Investigators must have an institutional review board (IRB) protocol for use of clinical discards. Investigators can also utilize Crimson to collect discards from consented subjects from the Partners Biobank linked to identifiable data.
A software application called Crimson queries against a rolling window of samples accessioned in the clinical laboratories at both BWH and MGH. These two laboratories receive more than 10,000 samples each day. Investigators with IRB protocols approved to use Crimson for sample collection may define queries to locate materials of use.
